like i said, most likely the kid doesnt know what he's doing with the ip address so he doesnt have to worry about anything, i know about botnets, dynamic, and static ips all that ****. trust me i know plenty about internet connections/ computers in gerneral i took 4 years of cisco and im certified no need to try to "boost" my "E-ego" as you said i KNOW what im talking about. yea most ips are dynamic but regardless of that with most service providers like verizon roadrunner comcast and all them you keep the same ip address for like a month, even if you turn your router on and off you still have that same ip address for like a while, dont try to school me son
Big mis-communication. I didn't say you were trying to booster your ego i meant the Halo 3 kid in the chat. And don't call me son, I'm more than knowledgable about the internet basically grew up on here ventured into many aspects of it. I know my internet.
/Release
Turn Off Modem/Router for ten seconds
/Renew

Will generate a new ip 95% of the time the %5 of the time it doesn't is because of an server error. But just to be safe heart you should use OpenDNS if you're really scared. Or you can use DynamicDNS they would help you alot in this situation if you're scared.
