There are pictures... but no backgrounds and stuff like that. There are apps you can add to have music playing on your page, but I don't know of a lot of people who have the apps installed. A lot of my friends post videos to their sites/friends sites, which always pop up on the status updates.. so there are videos.
Overall, Facebook is 10x better then Myspace. As someone said earlier, myspace was the middle school thing, while facebook was for college kids... However, now there are kids of all ages on facebook. I'd definitely go with facebook, though I've been getting into twitter lately too.
