Re: Post your Desktop v2
Thanks.. I'm trying to tell ArtofWar he doesn't want this argument.
![]() In Vista, this could happen because the way the GDI was designed, a single app could hold a system-wide global lock, so apps running simultaneously constantly jockey for the lock in order to render on the screen, and if one asshole app doesn't let go, it screws every other app waiting in line. So Microsoft re-designed the way this stuff is orchestrated, so multiple apps can "reliably" render at the same time, meaning less bottlenecks.

Re: Post your Desktop v2
That article I am sure you are talking about is pcpro and he didn't do it right..since I don't feel like installing all those programs here is my performance info from vista and then W7
![]() ![]() For some reason there is a problem with the graphics..donno what is going on there, maybe I need to install drivers or something. But anyways there is that. From a person with the same laptop as me: Vista 64 Bit CPUMark99 usually scored 388 with a best of 391. With Windows 7 I get a usual score of 398 and a best of 399. So as I said there is an increase. The boot time is 22% faster which you can find all over the internet, same time as XP.

![]() ![]() Windows 7 RC1 consistently beat Vista in raw benchmarks by a small margin, and lagged slightly behind Vista in some very real world measures. What's really interesting is that in regular usage, Windows 7 still feels faster and more responsive than Vista, even though the objective numbers say otherwise. It's more than just a simple "hey it's not Vista" placebo effect: It points to a slicker, refined user experience that makes you feel like the OS responds more hastily or smoothly to your whims. And that's what really matters, more than the numbers. I can easily provide a link. Just stop you can not win this argument

Re: Post your Desktop v2
The raw bench marks are better. You definitely cannot go by one program either. W7 is still a beta as it is anyways. I am sure vista is faster with some programs. This is just as pointless as PS3 v 360 graphics I guess seeing as in some games the PS3 is better and in others 360 are better. But we will have to wait and see until the actual W7 comes out anyways. So you cannot win this argument either.

Windows 7 will not get faster in the final release it will get slower. They are going to unrestrict some of the programs they have turned off, and turn on all the programs they have turned off. Vista is faster get over it.
