Rocket Catching

I got in a argument. this dude is whining that rocket catches are impossible to stop. i said that even when u get the animantion, the defense can still hit stick and make you drop it. he is under the impression that my rc is not on a good enough level where there would be no drop.

to be clear, what is a rocket catch? can it be stopped? is this idiot right?

It's the animation you get from pulling back on the right analog stick to get a high-catch that a defender cannot get to as easily compared to the WR just running in stride and catching. You can hold the strip button, or hit the player right as he's catching it to make him drop it. RC can be dropped.

RC can be stopped its just damn hard to stop but madden made it a little bit easier this year to defend it

Yea it's not really sim, but it can be stopped. If you can do it and your opponent can't then it's really a huge advantage

If you are playing a good play who is good with his reads it's one of the hardest things to stop. You just have to hit him and hope he drops it. A good player will never let your db be in position for a pick.

If you know someone is doing a rocket catch come out with different blitz to put pressure on the qb. Rocket catches take time to develop and you have to mess up the qbs timing.

BNR also mess up the routes and throws and lead to picks most of the time, and even if they get the animation the guy in man can knock the ball out anyway

Yeah the bump and run works really good at disrupting rocket catches. Spotlighting the receiver helps too. Adding a purple zone into the RC side is another thing that helps. Also, it is really hard to rocket catch against man defense.
