Computer/External Harddrive question
hey i have a WD 1 terabyte external hard drive. When i leave it plugged into the computer and start the computer, the computer freezes at the bios screen. I asked a dude i know that knows a lot about computers and he says its because the computer tries to find a windows from the external hard drive and can't boot up cause it can't find one.
Is there something i can do so i can always leave my external hard drive plugged in when i turn it on?

Re: Computer/External Harddrive question
Try disabling USB legacy support in your Bios or it may be viruses. I would run an antivirus scan on your external HD too before trying to disable the legacy support

Re: Computer/External Harddrive question
Run the antivirus check on the external HD, after that, if still not fixed, disable the USB Legacy support. I just found my USB Legacy Support under Advanced --> Peripherial Configuration in the BIOS

![]() There are a bunch of different uses for USB Legacy. Such as keyboard or mouse that use a USB to connect to the computer unless using Windows XP. Windows XP seems to know that when USB Legacy is turned off, what to do with the mouse and keyboard using a USB connection. You might want to google it to find out more about it.

Re: Computer/External Harddrive question
By the way, if I did a call like that to 1 of my clients, that would of been a $75 charge. The computer world is so great at times but so many headaches too.
