Probably going to take me several days to "install" my offense, but it's going to be a lot of fun doing so. I already have a pretty good idea which Ace and I Form/Split Back sets are going to be in, but I'm still figuring out which shotgun sets I want (besides 5 WR Bunch).

In fact, I've already mapped out a couple scenarios from different formations, right down to how many plays I expect to include in a given set. Looking at thirty, with some sets getting 21 plays, while others will only get 6/9.

On a side note, I'm real pumped to see that I From Close made it into NCAA for next year, in addition to Weak Close and Weak Close Twins. Weak Close is particularly awesome, since I'm 99% sure that the plays in that set are from the Option Run PB, which has several of the old school plays with the back going in motion (TE Option and WR Drag).

Definitely excited about what I can build on defense, too. In fact, with zones now playing tighter and more realistically (Pattern Reading!) I'm going to actually enjoy playing on that side of the ball for a change.

What are you thinking on O big guy? Are you going to do a few formations and load them for bear, or are you going to use my schizo approach to offense :D?

At first I was against the custom playbooks because of all the things you can do offensively but now with the improvements on defense and the fact that custom playbooks mean defensive books as well, I don't mind it.

Just to bump the thread, EA Sports has now allowed media sites to confirm custom playbooks, and talk about them freely. Here is some base information courtesy of The Gaming Tailgate :

Total plays - The max number is 377, but it varies between 370-377 based on the teams base playbook.
Playbooks - 15 on offense 15 on defense
40 formations total
Can be used in Online Dynasty and ranked/unranked online games
Goalline and Special teams are in each playbook
The max number of formations will depend on the playbook.
Cannot edit Goal Line, Special Teams or Hail Mary. The number of plays in defensive playbooks is also dependent upon the base playbook selected so it falls into the 377-370 range as well.

I think offensively I am really going to base my offense around concepts both for the run game and the pass game.
Then try to run those same concepts out of as many formations God and EA will allow, in that order btw lol

For example, I will take one of your favorite concepts and mine as well (DAGGER) I want to run that concept from as many different formations as possible, same for MESH, STICK, VERTICALS, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE ZONE etc...

Defensively I will be running the 4-3 and probably Diesels Tampa 2, lot of Nickel Normal, and really going to be giving the 4-2-5 defense a look.


How is Coaching in real life working out for you Mr Rookie? lol. Best of luck to you buddy. Give me a call sometime and like last season we need to get back into the LAB and go at it. We had some nice games and practice between the 2 pf us.
